ROUTINE CHECK CUTS FLIGHTS
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 18. One of Air New Zealand’s two remaining DCB jet airliners was taken out of service today for a week-long maintenance check.
The airline will cancel one flight normally made this week by DCBs and seven return flights normally made will be flown by Electras. Wednesday’s Sydney-Hong Kong service has been cancelled and passengers booked on that flight will be carried by other airlines. The flights to be made by the Electras are: Four from Auckland to Nandi and return, two from Auckland to Sydney and return, and one from Christchurch to Sydney and return. Special Shifts The maintenance check normally takes 10 days but special shift hours have been arranged and the aircraft is expected to be back in the air on Sunday night. Although the airliner has done only about 2000 hours’ flying, the 3500-hour check is
being made early so that the plane will not have to be withdrawn from service during the busy season beginning in October.
