Plough Hit By Rail-Car

The Picton-Christchurch rail-car was damaged yesterday afternoon when it hit a plough attached to a farm tractor near Spye and part of the line was ploughed up.

Nobody was hurt. The tractor, crossing the line from a farm access, was clear of the rails and the driver was not injured. Passengers in the rail-car were transferred to a bus and arrived in Christchurch at 7.15 p.m. The railcar was due in Christchurch at 4.15 p.m. T v e plough went under the rail-car, causing considerable mechanical damage. The railcar was towed to Christchurch by a steam engine. One goods train was delayed for an hour while the line was being repaired.
