Electricians Go Back To Work
(N.Z. Press Association! WELLINGTON, July 14. Thirteen electricians employed by the Wellington Harbour Board who stopped work last week, returned to their jobs today. The men stopped work because of a dispute with the board over conditions of employment The board’s general manager (Mr H. Meechen) said today that discussions with the union were continuing. The Union Steam Ship Company’s collier Kokiri had been idle in Wellington for the last three days as a result of the electricians’ strike, but she sailed for Westport last night with 500 tons of coal. The vessel has a capacity of 3000 tons, but she had to sail to clear lines of loaded coal trucks at Westport.
