UNIVERSITY COUNCIL
Close Poll Of Graduates With three votes separating succesful and unsuccessful contestants, the University of Canterbury yesterday counted a heavy poll three times in the election of two members of its council to represent the Court of Convocation (graduates).
The registrar (Mr G. G. Turbott) said it was the heaviest poll for some years. Results were:—T. H. McCombs 1626, M. W. Wilson 1325 (elected); N. D. Hardie 1322, N. B. Ullrich 976. Mr McCombs is the prochancellor of the university and has been a member al the council from 1937 to 194# and from 1957 to the present The Very Rev. M. W. Wit son. Moderator of the Gen era! Assembly of the Presby* terian Church In 1962-63, anl. minister of Knox Church, Christchurch, since 1951, it president of the National. Council of Churches anil chairman of the board of governors of Rangi-ruru Schoo,. He is a new member of the University Council, replacing Mr C. E. Fenwick, who did not seek re-election.
