DRIVERS MEET
Stop-Work In Capital (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 21. The movement of thousands of tons of freight and cargo in the Wellington area stopped this morning as more than 1000 truck-drivers attended a stop-work meeting. The drivers were addressed by Wellington Drivers’ Union officials for more than two hours over award claims in conciliation council by the Drivers’ Federation. The meeting finished at 10 a.m. but the drivers decided not to return to work until 12.30 p.m. The drivers were told that the federation was claiming three weeks’ paid leave instead of two as at present, wet-weather clothing and the right to sick leave.
