There were now sufficient nuclear weapons in existence to kill every inhabitant of the world several times over, Mr William C. Foster, the director of the United States arms control and its armament agency, said yesterday.

Mr Foster told the Belgo-American Association that halting the spread of nuclear weapons was the main preoccupation of the 18nation disarmament conference in Geneva. He warned that if many more countries got nuclear arms “a country could be attacked without knowing who the attacker was.”
