Two Life Memberships
The Beckenham Women’s Bowling Club has conferred life membership on Mrs G. McDonald, a prominent member of the club since its opening in 1931-32. Mrs McDonald has served continuously on the executive and has been president five times.
She has won championship honours at centre tournaments and in singles, pairs and fours at Oamaru and Timaru. She is also a five-star goffd medal winner in Christchurch centre championships.
Mrs McDonald has twice been a member of the centre match committee and a member of the Christchurch Women’s Bowling Centre.
I Mrs May Evans has been a life member of the Christchurch area group of the PanPacific and South-east Asia Women’s Association. Mrs Evans has a long record of service to the association as secretary and then vice-president of the Greymouth area group. When secretary of the Christchurch group from 1954 to 1963, Mrs Evans was largely instrumental in forming what is now a strong liaison between the association and international students in Christchurch. Mrs Evans has also represented the association at the Christchurch, Canberra, and Tonga international conferences.
