Removal Notice

WELLINGTON, June 20. The question of ownership is believed to be delaying the removal of the sunken trawler Hautapu from the Shelly Bay wharf, Wellington.

The ship, due to have been towed out and sunk in an Air Force exercise, sank mysteriously at her moorings on June 2.

The Wellington Harbour Board has issued a written notice to her registered owners, N.Z. Fisheries. The Hautapu was given

away by the firm to the Government and it I* believed that it considers the ship no longer its property. On the registration papers, however, the ship is still in the firm’s name. The Harbour Board says the wreck is not causing any inconvenience but has to be removed. No action would be taken over the ship until a meeting of directors had been held, N.Z. Fisheries said today.
