ANGRY EXCHANGES AT ROSEHILL
(■Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) SYDNIY. Three of Australia's beet known racing pereoneMttee figured in angry scenes at the Roseblli race meeting on Saturday. The trainer, T. Smith, and top jockey, G. Moore, clashed In the weighing enclosure after the running of the Auburn Stakes, and the jockey, A. MuMey. was Involved In a heated exchange
with the A.J.C. stewards when he was charged with careless riding tn the Two-year-oid Handicap. Muffley was suspended for one month after the stewards had found Mm responsible for the Interference wMch caused Persian Arrow to fall during the race. When the acting chief steward, Mr K. Steindl, told Mulley that he was being charged with careless riding, the jockey raid: ‘Tm disgusted. I would Hike to see the film again." After seeing the official Mm of the race a second Mme MuMey said: "M you're going to charge me for careless riding for this Incident you might as well take my licence. "W you can't see by looking at this film that I did not cause the interference all I can say Is that it must be one big joke.’
Persian Arrow, well-btcked st 5 to 1. fell near the two furlong and a half mark in the sevenfurlong handicap. The steward* claimed that Mulley. on the 3 to 1 favourite. Flowing Over, moved out forcing Paddy's Girt on to Persian Arrow, and causing him to fall. Mulley claimed ho had been fallowing the eventual winner Gar eon and at no stage had been near enough to any other hone to cause the fall. Smith and Moore dashed after Moore had pulled up Bronze Knight, which la trained by Smith, after only three furlonss of the mile and a half Auburn Stake®. , , Bronze Knight, a last start winner, wa* a heavily backed 4 to 1 third favourite for the race. Moore, who repeatedly looked down at Bronze Knight s legs as he eased Mm out of the race, claimed the horse was lame and unfit to run. After a acene with Smith In the welgMng-in enclosure Moore told the stewards that Bronze Knilight w*» lame before the start. He said he asked the veterinary surgeon at the barrier to look at th* hone, but the hone* wa* passed a* fit. Moore said Bronze Knight was tied up during the race, but was not lame when he brought Mm back to the endosure.
