GERIATRIC HOSPITALS
Rehabilitation Role Seen (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 19. Geriatric hospitals were changing (heir role from “terminal care” to helping to rehabilitate the elderly, the Minister of Health (Mr McKay) said in Auckland yesterday. They were now more of a “refuelling stop” than a terminus, he said. “Wherever possible the aim is t)he same as with other patients—to seek their rehabilitation and allow them to return home as soon as possible,” said Mr McKay. He was opening the Wesley Geriatric Hospital’s occupational therapy department.
