PURGE IN CHINA

(N .Z .P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) TOKYO, June 16. The President of Nanking University, Kuang Ya-ming, has been stripped of all his duties, Radio Peking announced today. Kuang Ya-ming’s dismissal was decided on June 12 by the Communist Party committee of Chiangsu province. It was announced at a meeting of 10,000 students and professors at Nanking University the same day, said Radio Peking. China’s sweeping purge of Communist cadres and intellectuals accused of rebelling against Mao Tse-tung’s ideas, has already struck down the rector of Peking University, Lu Ping, and many others. Kuang was accused of an “ignoble and villainous conspiracy to suppress the revolutionary movement within NankinjfUniversity.”
