‘MIHLCAB’ DISPUTE
Drivers Picket London Hilton (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) LONDON. June 13. The Hilton Hotel in London is under a “seise” by angry taxi drivers. Tbe drivers are picketing the hotel because of its habit of using “mini-cabs" to take guests on long journeys. The strike began yesterday when taxi drivers tried to protest to the hotel management when they saw several “mini-cabs"—small converted family saloon cars—taking guests on the long trip to London Airport The Hilton management, according to the drivers, refused to see a trade union official and announced that the hotel would use “any type of vehicle it wished for its clients.”
The ban on the Hilton by London’s 11,000 licensed taxi drivers was called immediately. They will refuse to collect anyone from the Hilton.
