Wheels Of Justice
(N.Z. Press Association' NEW PLYMOUTH, June 3. A man went to the Magistrate's Court at New Plymouth yesterday expecting to be charged with parking inconsiderately and left a few minutes later after being awarded a guinea costs. He is Robert M. Mills.
When his name was called out in Court Mr J. H. Mahoney, for the Transport Department, told Mr A. W. Yortt, S.M., that the charge had been withdrawn. Mills: This offence occurred almost a third of a year ago. and my explanation was a reasonable
one. I Intended to contest the charge, and feel some sort of protest is justified. I was told three minutes ago the case was withdrawn. Could I not have been advised about this? 1 have been put to considerable inconvenience this morning. The Magistrate: I think there is something in what you say. I would be willing to award you one guinea costs. Mills: I do not expect to be paid costs. Mr Yortt: WelL if you don’t want it . .. The charge was withdrawn, and the costs ordered to be paid.
