BODY FOUND ON ISLAND

Lost Stone Collector (N.Z. Press Association) HOKITIKA. June 3. The body of a woman who went in search of greenstone on an island in the Arahura river, five miles from Hokitika, was recovered by a search party this morning. She was Florence Catherine Olson, of Humphreys, married, with two sons.

For some years Mrs Olson has collected greenstone and other stones, and late yesterday afternoon she went to the island.

Heavy rain at the head of the Arahura valley caused a flash flood in the river which rose about six feet. Mrs Olson was presumed drowned. A party of farmers and Search and Rescue Organisation members searched the river and flats until late last night. Early today, Mrs Olson’s body was found on the island.
