Roman Consul Fit Again

“The Press" Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Roman Consul, a pro-post favourite for the Sir

Thomas Duncan Challenge Cup at Wanganui on Saturday, has been a little sore since he galloped on Tuesday morning, but appeared to pull up satisfactorily after his work at Awapuni yesterday.

Roman Consul suffered a bruised knee when he lost a shde in his trial earlier this week.

Yesterday Roman Consul galloped six furlongs on the plough. He still appeared tender after his work but otherwise was very bright. His trainer thinks the first leg topweight will go to the post at his best.

Roman Consul worked over six furlongs In Imin 23sec, and took 43sec for his last three fur, longs without being hurried. The Century Hurdles runner, Tilly Light, completed a mile tn Imin 52sec, the last three furlongs in 41 2-ssec. He worked wen and is ready for a good race this week.

Torere worked over two rounds and sprinted his last three furlongs in 40 3-ssec. He will race at Wanganui on Monday and is a likely improver. Laramie worked easily over two rounds. He should do well in the main event at Wanganui on Monday.
