The Levin motor racing circuit is being lengthened and resealed at a cost of £lO,OOO. When finished, it will be a mile and a quarter long, compared with 1.1 miles at present. Work will be finished about November. * ♦ ♦
Honda is reported to be preparing cars for Indianapolis 500 races. # * •
Provisional dates for major race meetings next year include the New Zealand G.P. on January 7, the Levin races on January 14, the Lady Wigram Trophy race on January 21, and the Teretonga races on January 28.
The 1000-kilometre race at Spa was won easily by M. Parkes and L. Scarfiotti in a Ferrari 330P3. Parkes set a new lap record of 139.6 m.p.h. ♦ » • The new fonnula one Honda is expected to have a 60-degree Vl2 engine with four camshafts and four valves a cylinder. Roller bearings will be used, as in other Honda engines. The engine probably will make its first appearance in the Italian Grand Prix at Monza later this year. The car will be driven by Richie Ginther. • • •
The only Australian rally on the international calendar, the 2006 mile B.P. rally, has been won by a Ford Cortina GT, driven by B. Woodfall and R. Forsyth.
