MISS WAITES CHOSEN

Canterbury Badminton

The young Railway B player, Miss R. Waites, has gained her reward for consistently good play in trials and inter-dub matches by winning selection in the Canterbury division I badminton team to play Southland at Christchurch on June 18. Games by both the division I and II teams against Southland sides wUI launch Canterbury’s representative programme for the season.

A strong division I team has been chosen and the second side contains a good blending of potential and experience. The steady B. W. Crofts has won a place in the division I team at the expense of two former representatives,

B. E. Wylie and D. B. Reid. The teams, in alphabetical order, are:—

Division I.—Men: P. V. Boatwood (Avonslde), B. W. Crofts (Knox A), A. G. Duckmanton (Railway A), H. K. Yen (University). Women: Mrs M. (Avonslde). Miss S. Field (Knox A), Miss B. Gormack (Selwyn). Miss R. Waites (Bailway B). Division a.—Men: W. Edgerumbe (Army), R. Miller (Bnilvay A), D. B. Reid (Christchurch), B. E. WyHe (Christchurch). Women: Miss D. French (Bailway A), Mrs M. Miller (Bailway A), Miss E. Stevenson (Knox A), Mrs M. WyHe (Christchurch).
