Two ’Quakes Felt
Two minor earthquakes were reported in Christchurch last evening. The technician at the Gebbie’s Pass Seismological station (Mr F. R. Costello) said he felt a slight shake about 6.50 p.m. This was also noticed by an Avonhead resident, who said the tremor was accompanied by a noise like a door slamming.
Residents in the St Martins area noticed an earlier earthquake, about 6 p.m. One reported a sharp jolt, and another heard a rumbling sound about the same time. »
