TELEVISION DISPUTE
“They have been dictating to us. It is time were stood up for ourselves," said Mr G. Rothwell, a member of the management committee of the Canterbury Hockey Association, during a discussion on television last evening. The association has decided to write to the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation stating "that the televised game on June 18 will be held at Williamson Park.”
Williamson Park was preferred to the suggested alternative, Ham, because the latter was under the jurisdiction of the University Sports committee and that it was used on the understanding a University team would be playing on the ground. It was also considered that the C.H.A. had to keep faith with its advertisers.
Mr T. Crossen reported on talks that he had had with the boardcasting authorities. He said that there was an objection to Williamson Park because television coverage was limited. An unusually high scaffold had to be built on the sideline and the television area was limited.
