(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) PARIS The Italian, Pietrangeli, was eliminated from the French championships in the third round on Thursday by the unseeded K. Fletcher, of Australia. Fletcher won a fine match of contrasting styles, 4-6, 6-0, 6-1, 6-2. Pietrangeli, French champion in 1959 and 1960 was seeded fourth.

Earlier A. Metreveli, of Russia, provided the first major upset when he eliminated llth-seeded M. Mulligan, of Australia, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3, 6-3. Eighth-seeded C. Drysdale, of South Africa, who had a i match point against him on Wednesday night, completed a five-sets victory over G. Maioli, Italy’s number four player.
