STATE AID EXTENSION
Objections By Teachers (N.Z. Frfti Aiiociation) WELLINGTON, May 24. The Wellington Post-Prim-ary Teachers’ Association has objected to state aid being given to private schools as advocated by Mr D. J. Riddiford, M.P., on Saturday. An official statement by the association said: “Having heard Mr Riddiford supporting the possibility of more State aid to private schools, the Wellington region of the association reaffirms the association’s policy of strong objection to the diversion of vital funds from the underfinanced state education system, to private schools.” Mr Riddiford said it would benefit New Zealand If private schools received a reasonable amount of State aid. He said he believed that aid to private schools would integrate the New Zealand system of education, in that it would involve more Government control over the private schools.
