Tawa Mahal Gisborne Pick

"The Press" Special Service GISBORNE. The track at Gisborne on Saturday for the first day of the Poverty Bay meeting was soft. It should be the same today when the meeting ends. This will suit Tawa Mahal, a front runner whose best form is equal to top provincial standard.

He could win the Medallist Handicap, 10 furlongs and 38 yards, which is the first leg of the T.A.B. double. Anne Lane, a close second on Saturday, and the first day winner, Ta Vince, also appeal strongly, particularly Anne Lane, which gave the impres'sion she would improve. If the track is slightly firmer and offers a more secure footing, Sir Barton might do better than on the first day. although Lipton, which finished alongside him in fifth place, should be capable of greater improvement because he needed the race
