ANOTHER FERRY

Suggestion By Minister (N.Z. Press Association) WESTPORT, May 17. The Minister of Railways (Mr McAlpine) is to recommend a third Cook Strait ferry to the Government. Mr R. L. Dixon, an executive member of the South Island Publicity Association said in Westport today. The Minister had said this at the association’s recent conference in Christchurch, said Mr Dixon. He was commenting on the need to provide ample accommodation in Westport to cater for the increasing number of tourists passing through on their way to the Haast Mr Dixon said the influx of visitors from the North Island would rise appreciably when the Upper Buller Gorge highway was sealed from end to end. About eight miles of the 27-mile route has been upgraded.
