Three Teams For Floodlit Trials
A Youth XI will play Rangers In a curtain-raiser to the senior provincial soccer trial match under floodlights at Rangers Park on Wednesday. “There are so many talented young players in our club sides at present that I felt it necessary to give as many of them as possible a trial on Wednesday,” said the Canterbury selector (Mr V. R. Smith), when releasing the teams on Saturday. A second trial will be held on the following Wednesday, also at Rangers Park, In preparation for the selection of the Canterbury senior team to play the first leg of the Gordon Cup against Wellington at Queen’s Birthday week-end. Among those not available for the first trial was the national under-23 goal-keeper, 0. Nuttridge. The teams selected by Mr Smith are:
