WINTON FIRST LEG TO BASTILLE
(New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL. Bastille, backed to odds on, won the Soldiers’ Memorial Handicap, the main event and first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Winton Jockey Club’s winter meeting at Invercargill on Saturday, by a decisive margin. It was his first attempt in open company.
The second leg, the Flying Handicap, was completed by Gladaub, the combination returning £ll 6s for £l.
