‘PETTICOAT JUNCTION’

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 12. Railways in the South Island were compared to “Petticoat Junction” by a delegate at the Labour Party conference in Wellington today. Mr A. J. Srhoj, of Ashburton, said a 43-year-old engine was being shipped to the South Island for further use. “If the N.Z.B.C. want* to see a real ‘Petticoat Junction’ in operation why don’t they go down and see South Island railways?” he asked.
