LORDS IN FAVOUR

Homosexual Law Reform (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright l LONDON, May 11. The House of Lords voted tonight 70 to 29 in favour of legalising homosexual act,s between consenting adult males in private. It gave a second reading—agreement in principle—to a private (non-government) bill seeking to free between 500,000 and one million Britons from fear of criminal prosecution. Similar bills, approved in principle by both Lords and Commons, were lost because of the dissolution of Parliament at the General Election last March. To become law a bill agreed in principle must undergo line-by-line debate and be finally approved by both Houses. The Labour Government is neutral on this controversial issue.
