DUNEDIN. Otago and Southland breeders have received a further boost with two new stallions for the districts. Ruddington has joined Mr B. J. Anderton’s stud at Wingatui, and Hawa has been purchased by Mr W. E. Haz-

lett for his Chelandry Stud, near Invercargill. Buddington's stock which were offered at the Trentham yearling sales In January for the first time, created much Interest. Three were bought by Australians. Ruddington stood last season at Mr Malcolm’s Te Rapa stud at Hamilton and replaces the highly successful Resurgent, which has returned to Mr Malcolm’s stud after two seasons at Wingatui. Hawa’s first crop to race made an auspicious start in Australia. His first runner, Drop Volley, won a semi-classic race at his first appearance and has now won five races in two seasons' racing. Hawa stood at the Kinross Stud, Te Kauwhata, last season. He is by Golden Cloud out o the Persian Guif mare, Eastern Fairy, and is described by the Australian jockey, R. Hutchinson, as the fastest horse he had ever ridden.

Hawa will join Kurdistan at the Chelandry Stud.
