SAIL AWAY EASED
Finished For Season ' "The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Sail Away has been eased for a spell after a campaign of two years and about 60 races, most of them over middle distances. During that time Sall Away has travelled to the South island twice and Australia once. He. has met the best gallopers in both countries and acquitted himself well. His trainer (S. A. Brown) does not intend turning him out, but will Instead keep him in light exercise around the stable. It is not expected that he will appear again until next spring. Sail Away has amazed racing men by maintaining such a long programme without apparent signs of wear. At Trentham last Saturday the gelding appeared just as fresh as when he started under Brown, after the disqualification of his former trainer IT. W. Bead), Others of Brown’s team to be spelled this week are the two-year-olds Gay Samaritan and Modern Lad, both of which failed to. handle the ground at Trentham last Saturday. Boyal Guest may be spelled soon, and Ben Bella's season could end with a start against the open stayers at Otakf next Saturday.
