WELLINGTON, May 8.
New Zealand’s delegation to the tenth international grassland congress in Helsinki in July will include two scientists, a senior officer of the farm advisory service, and two fanners. The delegation, announced by the Minister of Science and Agriculture (Mr Talboys), includes Dr. P. C. Barclay, chief plant breeder of the Grasslands Division, D.5.1.R., and Mr D. B. Edmond, a pasture ecologist of the division.
Other delegates are Mr G. L. Banfield, fields superintendent of the Department of Agriculture at Hamilton; Mr D. R. Willis, a Greatford sheepfarmer, and Mr H. R Thorp, of Paeroa, a sheep and dairy fanner. A sixth New Zealander will speak at one of the plenary sessions as a representative of the World Bank. Dr. C. P. McMeekan, a former director of the Ruakura Agricultural Research Centre, will discuss investment development in grassland of tropical and temperate zones.
