Boy And Youth Drowned
Two persons were drowned in New Zealand at the week-end. A boy fell into a water tank and a youth was drowned in a river.
A three-year-old boy died when he fell into a large concrete water tank in the garden of his Broad Bay home yesterday. He was David Anthony Willems, son of Mr and Mrs A. J. Willems, of 83 Main road, Broad Bay. It is thought that the child fell into the water-filled tank after the cover was removed for cleaning. Body Found After an all-day search at the Waipaoa river, the body of a youth was found by the police late on Saturday afternoon. He was Raymond Louie, aged 16, of 533 Gladstone road, Gisborne. He left in a canoe late on Friday afternoon to set decoys for duck-shooting. The police found the overturned canoe about 11 p.m. on Friday. The body was uncovered by
the tide about half a mile from the scene. Men Safe Two duck-shooters who were believed to be missing on the Waikato river after their canoe capsized early on Saturday morning were later found to be safe. The two men, David Moon and Ken McLean, both of Hamilton, clambered out of the river soon after their canoe capsized. They went to the home of Mr C. G. and Dr. Morris about 7.30 a.m., were given dry clothes, and later picked up and taken home. Just before noon when police were preparing a boat to drag the river, they received a report that the two men were safe and were playing football. They continued operations until the men were positively identified.
