MOORS MURDERERS
(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) LONDON, May 8. The moors murderers, 28-year-old lan Brady and 23-year-old Myra Bindley, left the Risley remand centre in Lancashire yesterday for the prison! where they will spend their life sentences. Brady was said to have been sent to Parkhurst maximum security gaol on the Isle of Wight.
Bindley was bound for one of Britain’s grimmest prisons —Holloway gaol. While in gaol, Brady would be segregated from other prisoners under Rule 43 for at least the first month as was
customary at the start of long prison sentences. Both would be kept to their cells, except for one hour’s exercise under close supervision.
The code professed by criminals, condemned sexual offences against children. So both Brady and Bindley were likely to be in danger of violence from other prisoners. Both Hindley and Brady are serving life sentences for the crimes, which a Home Office spokesman has defined as “the whole of the prisoner’s natural life, with powers vested in the Home Secretary to release such a person on licence.”
