MAGISTRATE’S COURT Fined For Obstruction And Wilful Trespass
Barry John Aldridge, aged 27, a workman, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Mr K. H. J. Headifen, S.M., to a charge of wilful trespass at Halkett on May 9. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of obstructing Constable J. P. Larner in the execution of his duty. He was convicted and fined £5 on the trespass charge and £lO on the charge of obstruction. Detective Sergeant B. I. S. Kimber said that Aldridge became abusive to relatives he was visiting and refused to leave. He was finally forced off the premises. The police found Aldridge attempting to gain entry, and he resisted the constable when being made to leave. CARELESS USE Adrlanus John Francis Maria Van Ryswyk, aged 28, a factory worker (Mr K. M. Hampton), pleaded guilty to a charge of carelessly using a motorvehicle. He was convicted and fined £B. Ronald Ivor Cross, aged 54, a foreman, was fined £lO on a similar charge. Cross (Mr R. L. Kerr) pleaded not guilty. (Before Mr K. H. J. Headifen, S.M.) FALSE PRETENCES Patrick WiMiam Hammond, aged 40, unemployed, was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment, to be served concurrently with a term of three months' imprisonment imposed in the Supreme Court earlier in the morning. Hammond was appearing on charges of obtaining groceries and money by false pretences. Mr G. S. Brockett appeared for him. PROBATION Joseph Colin McMahon, aged 37, a storeman (Mr L. M. O’ReiMy), was placed on probation for two years on charges of indecently assaulting a girl under 16.
Special conditions of probation are that McMahon enters a mental hospital as a voluntary patient and does not apply for release from the hospital until directed to do so by the medical staff. FINED £6 Edward John Bodie, aged 32 a storeman (Mr A. P. C, Tipping), was convicted and fined £6 on a charge of being unable to stop his vehicle in half the clear distance. < On a charge of failing to give his name and address after an accident, Bodie was convicted and ordered to pay costs. WARRANT ISSUED A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of Denis Reginald Walters, aged 22, a crane driver, when he failed to appear on a charge that on December 27, 1965, he drove dangerously on the Main South road. OTHER TRAFFIC CASES In other traffic prosecutions brought by the police, convictions were entered and fines imposed as follows: Careless use: George Richard Russell, £6; David Copeland, £B, disqualified for one month: Warren Repton Walpole, £lO- - Fredrick Chapman, £3: Charles Johnston Graham, £8 (failed to stop. £lO, failed to ascertain injury, costs only); Bernard James Dwyer, £lO Failed to give way: Charles Alexander John Piesse, £6; Blair Darcy Lawrence, £8; Noel James Quirk, £8 (no warrant of fitness, £3; Ronald Kit Carson, £5; Lois Jane Chamberlain, £4; Irvine Gray Smith, £5; Peter William de-Witt, £5; Graeme Alexandra Adams, £6; Jack Taylor, £6, disqualified for six months (no driver’s licence, 65); John Robert Warren, £8; Betty Campbell. £8; David John Davis. £8; Larry Reginald Hammond. £6; Samuel Rex Humm, £8: Barry Charles McSeveny, £lO. Exceeded 55 miles an hour: Graham John Baker, £7. Exceeded 30 miles an hour: Peter Graham Ayles, £5. Failed to notify change of ownership: William Arthur Campion, £5; Gary Norman Weeks, £4. No warrant of fitness: George Cowan Grice, £3; Lester Raymond Swan, £3.
