Lamb Prices Steady (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 6. Beef traded slowly on London’s Smithfield market this week but other commodities found a fair inquiry, according to the Meat Board information service. Moderate pitchings of New Zealand lamb sold steadily at unchanged prices. New Zealand mutton continued in short supply at unchanged nominal quotations. Quotations for hoggets (49561 b) were at 19d to 20d per lb, wethers (481 b and under) were at 21d per lb, and ewes (481 b and under) at 18d per lb. New Zealand beef was not quoted. N.Z. Reserves Still Rising (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 6. Net overseas assets of the New Zealand banking system were £59.3m on April 27 compared with £58.9m on April 20, and £80.3m on April 28, last year. These figures were announced by the Reserve Bank today.
