TOP TEAMS TO STAY THERE
The leading teams, Hornby and Addington, should have little difficulty in cementing their hold on the senior RugbyLeague championship when the third round is played today.
The only undefeated team in championship and Tavendale Cup matches, Hornby, meets Marist in what promises to be a repeat of the Barr Cup final. In that game Marist allowed Hornby to dictate play and run too far in possession.
If anything Hornby could score more points on this occasion: Marist will be without its transferred players,
R. J. A. McKenzie and W. D. Beri, and two injured backs, C. C. Worters and D. J. McNaughtan. Addington will play the inconsistent Christchurch XIII. Last Saturday, Christchurch played extremely well against Marist but Addington will be a strong favourite. The enterprising Addington back-line has proved one of the most attractive in the city and the Christchurch defence will be sorely tested. Papanui should open its championship account against Kaiapoi, while Linwood has been more consistent this Season, apart from its shock defeat by Kaiapoi, and could win again against Sydenham.
