Inter-School Rally

THE second inter-school x Shell car rally will be held in Christchurch on June 12, and will be organised by the Christchurch Boys’ High School Car Club. All local schools with car clubs will be invited to send teams to compete for an individual and a teams’ trophy.

Safety will be emphasised throughout the event, and speed traps and secret checks will be used. As in all rallies, there will be substantial penalties for breaches of the road code.

The route will include grass tracks and shingle roads, to give drivers experience on how to handle their vehicles under all types of conditions. The event will be conducted under the national competition rules of the Motorsport Association of New Zealand, and will start at the Christchurch Boys’ High School at 12.15 p.m., finishing there at 5.15 p.m.

Supplementary regulations issued by the Christchurch Boys’ High School Car Club say no maps will be essential, but map 576 (Kaiapoi) may be useful. Check-to-check timing and sealed clocks will be used. All railway crossings not controlled by lights or arms will be compulsory stops, and all provisions of the road code will be rigidly enforced.
