Happy Wanderer Is Forbury Prospect

Happy Wanderer looks set to gain her second win for the season in the two-mile Raceway Handicap at Forbury Park tomorrow night.

She finished strongly for a good fourth behind Trade Winds in the race for probationary drivers on the first night of the meeting and if she had been better placed early she might have made the winner’s task more difficult.

Happy Wanderer, which is trained at Tinwald by S. R. E. Townley, has displayed fine stamina in her races. This could stand to her in this race and it will be most surprising if she fails to give a good account of herself. High Caste failed at Gore on Tuesday, but the firmer footing expected at Forbury Park could suit him better. High Caste finished a rather unlucky second to Chief Smile at Hutt Park at his previous start. Provided he does not pull too hard in the middle stages, he could offer most opposition to Happy Wanderer.

Sir Hugh, a member of J. A. Flynn’s Invercargill team, has raced most consistently this season. The Hal Tryax— Tutta Bella five-year-old finished second to Trade Winds on the first night of the meet-

ing, running on gamely from a handy position. He should again be hard to beat Trade Winds and Blue Pin, both on 48 yards, will need plenty of luck to get into the finish. However, the pace is unlikely to be very strong and that they are in form suggests they could be placed. Overtime and Chaman appeal most of the others. The T.A.B. double will be run on the Southland Handicap and the Railway Handicap, Disband and Flying Maiden forming a likely combination.

Dispense and Inky Boy look likely to be a dominating favourite combination for the on-course double. This will be run on the Tahuna Handicap and the Pacific Handicap. Fine weather is forecast and the track should be in good order.
