Manana Shows Fitness

Manana, which will be flown to Wellington this morning, showed his fitness for a Trentham campaign in a half-mile sprint on the trial grass at Riccarton yesterday.

He was going nicely for his race rider, A. J. Stokes, after running half a mile in. 50 4-5 sec. It was a good gallop on a soft track and it commanded respect for Manana's chance in the Wadestown Handicap, tne second leg of the Wellington Racing Club's T.A.B. double. Krakikid. which will also be taken north this morning but will not run until the second day at Trentham, pleased in a six-furlong sprint yesterday.

Ridden by E. G. Low, Krazlkld was going well a length in advance of Shoshone <A. J. Stokes) after running six furlongs in Imin 16 4-ssec, the last four in 52sec.

Krazikid is an accomplished galloper on winter tracks. He has also won on firm ground, so he will have a following at Trentham whatever the conditions. WENT KEENLY

The stablemates Danny Kaye <B. Edens) and Pawnee <D. Tucker) went keenly while running half a mile in 49 4-ssec. Danny Kaye may make a fresh start at Amberley next week. He looks as if he thrived while spelling. Town Talk <D. Tucker), Brown Brocade <E. G. Low), and Coral Prince 18. Edens) stayed in close order over half a mile, run in 51 l-ssec. Pretentious (C. W. Mein) sprinted half a mile in 52 4-5

sec. After a third at Riccarton at Easter he will be a form runner in the Novice Stakes at Amebrely next week. Disguised (R. Murphy) was shading Maleclte (Mrs V. Clutterbuck) ending half a mile in 50 4-ssec.

Disguised will make another start soon after a long spell. He has ability, but has been unsound.

Tumble (C. T. Wilson) and Misjudge (A. H. Eastwood) were being eased short of the post in their six-furlong trial, and they took 52 l-ssec for their last half-mile. They have been entered for the Amberley Cup. Research (A. J. Stokes) was going well three-quarters of a length ahead of Flying Saucer <R. Murphy) finishing half a mile in 51 4-ssec.

Research will make a fresh start at Amberley. He was a fairly consistent performer for W. A. Welton’s stable on his last campaign.
