CHURCH WORK PARTY
20 Men To Leave For Fiji Today The first big overseas work party sponsored by the National Council of Churches would leave Auckland for Fiji today, said the secretary of the youth committee (the Rev. R. M. O’Grady). The 20 men would build low-cast housing at the Bayly Clinic, and prepare the grounds for the new South Pacific Theological College, Suva. Selected from more than 70 applicants, the party represents Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist, Churches of Christ and Salvation Army youth groups. It is led by the Rev. R. Marshall, a Methodist, of Christchurch, and includes three other Christchurch men, Messrs M. Heyworth, L. J. Hudson and L. J. McGill. Each member will pay his own fare and a nominal amount for accommodation during his two weeks and a half in Fiji.
