(New Zealand Press Association) NELSON. The national match-play champion, Miss G. Taylor, of New Plymouth, and the runner-up, Miss H. Booth, of Gisborne, have been selected in the New Zealand women’s golf team to challenge Australia for the Tasman Cup in August.

They are the only new internationals among the five players chosen to compete in Victoria.

The others are Mrs P. Bull (Otago), Miss J. Butler (Auckland) and Miss N. White (Auckland). The team was announced after the end of the Russell Grace tournament in Nelson yesterday. The non-playing captain will be Mrs J. E. S. Greenall, of Timaru. The reserves are Miss W. Bryant (Te Awamatu) and Miss J. Hanratty (Wellington.

The three players to compete in the world series in Mexico will be announced in the first week of June.. From Seventh to First Thames Valley-Bay of Plenty made a startling advance from seventh last year to win the Russell Grace tournament.

Wins in three matches in the final round against Manawatu-Wanganui were enough to keep it comfortably clear of Auckland, which was also runner-up last year. The consistent Thames Valley-Bay of Plenty team won 22 of its 30 matches during the three days. Final placings on points average were:
