‘Roaring’ Noise To Be Studied (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) SYDNEY, May 5. The Australian Government’s aeronautical research laboratories have begun an intensive investigation of unexplained “roaring” noises in several of the Royal Australian Air Force’s Vampire jet trainers. Senior R.A.A.F. officers and officials of the Hawker de Havilland company will begin talks on the Vampire engine troubles tomorrow.

Defence sources said the engines of all 120 of the 16-year-old Vampires might have to be recalled for examination.
