OPPOSITION TO TESTS
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 2. Referring to reports that some South American countries were protesting against the planned French nuclear tests in the Pacific later this year, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said today: “It is naturally interesting and encouraging that other countries are now expressing similar views to New Zealand’s." Before the New Zealand Government made any further protests over the nuclear tests, it would have to judge the circumstances involved. New Zealand had made repeated representations to the French Government to stop the tests, he said.
