Big Salt Yield Expected
(N.Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM, May 2. A record yield of salt is expected from Lake Grassmere this year. Modifications to the plant taking the salt from the lake have increased its capacity by 50 per cent and already this season’s stack holds 27,000 tons. Last year a record of 35,000 tons was set, but with yields averaging a thouand tons a day and about two weeks of the season left, this figure should now be passed. The season began on March 16.
