TOUR OF COUNTY
Councillors At Paparua A comprehensive inspection of the Paparua County was made on Saturday by the county council and its senior staff. The inspection is made once in the three-year life of each council. The party travelled by bus. Places visited included Sockburn Park, Rhodes Park, the intake at Halkett to the county’s stock water race system, and the Christchurch Airport. The council was shown round Rhodes Park by members of the park domain board. In the park, the council inspected a new picnic area which is being laid out beside the Halswell river. The area has room for three small picnics at one time, on each of three flat places which have been created. The necessary earth-moving was done by the council, and the area will be sown in grass and planted with trees and shrubs by the board.
