RAN INSIDE MARKER

Three Riders Suspended (N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH. After the Gainsford Steeplechase at Awapuni on Saturday, the assistant stipendiary steward at the half-mile reported that Popoff (C. Me. Govern). Triomphe (G. Jenkins) and Southern Cloud (J. Hely) did not follow the correct courts. They ran inside the marker drum near the halfmile on the first circuit of the course. The judicial committee disqualified Popoff ana Southern Cloud and placed Copper Fair second and Prince Robin third. Because no sixth horse was weighed in the committee could not place a horse fourth. McGovern, Jenkins and Hely, who were charged under rule 291 (2), were found guilty. The committee suspended them to 5 p.m. on Wednesday. They have lodged appeals, which will be heard at Wanganui this afternoon by the Wanganui district committee. All three jockeys will be represented by Mr J. A. L. Bennett, of Palmerston North.
