MAIN SHAREHOLDERS
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, April 29. Share lists filed by the Enzlon company with the Registrar of Companies disclose that, at November 16 last, some 3,700,000 5s shares had been issued in the company. Many of these went to smaller shareholders who may have disposed of them since. There is no up-to-date record of holdings, but an Enzlon director has given an unqualified assurance that no director or Daysh-Renouf partner had sold his shares since trouble in the company became apparent last October. There has, however, been some change in directors since the company was first formed.
The present board is Messrs H. F. Renouf (1400 shares). J. S. Stacey (1600), C. C.
Smith (25,333), W. G. Smith (2667 shares), E. D. Solloway, representing the Universal Corporation of America which now controls the Von Kohorn, Universal Corporation, H. T. Radford and J. B. Hatrick, who with Mrs A. B. Hatrick holds 10,334 shares.
When the company’s name was changed to Enzlon Chemical Fibres Ltd., on December 1 last the four American directors originally nominated to represent the American interests in the company Messrs J. J. Cail, T. C. Ellis, H. Von Kohorn and R. S. Von Kohorn—were replaced by Mr Solloway and Messrs W. G. Smith and Stacey, of Wellington. Mr Smith is a director of the National Mutual Life Association of Australasia, Ltd., of which National Mutual Life Nominees Ltd., is a subsidiary company. He is also a director of York and Company (New Zealand) Ltd., agents for Badische Anilin and Soda Fabrik A. G., the West German firm which produces nylon and was engag-
ed to give technical assistance to Enzlon earlier this year. Mr Stacey is, with Mr F. H. Renouf, a director of New Zealand United Corporation, Ltd., on behalf of which United New Zealand Nominees last November held 120,100 shares in Enzlon.
The company, then Von Kohorn of New Zealand, Ltd., appointed Mr H. C. Eaves general manager at Shannon in May last year. Mr Eaves was previously senior vice-president (operations) of Von Kohorn Universal Corporation of California and managing-director of Paul Hardeman K.K. in Tokyo. He was appointed a member of the Enzlon board. Mr Eaves’ appointment at Shannon was terminated this year and he resigned from the board today. The Von Kohorn organisation was paid in shares for the plant it provided, and it was understood that these shares would not be sold ‘until 12 months after guaranteed performance had been reached.”
United N.Z. Nominees had 120,100 shares in the company, the Von Kohorn Universal Company held 686,488 shares last November. Members of the Von Kohorn family held a total of 8332 shares.
