TELFER, Registrar. 5363 THE UNIVERSITY OF ADELAIDE WAITE AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE APPLICATIONS are invited from graduates wishing to work towards a higher degree for appointment in the pasture utilisation section of the Department of Agronomy, as a POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH STUDENT The programme of study, under a grant from the Australian Meat Research Committee, will relate to the nitrogen and energy turnover of grazing cattle with particular reference to periods at summer undernutrition. The appointment is tenable for 3-4 years.

QUALIFICATIONS: A degree (preferably with Honours) in Agricultural Science, Rural Science or the equivalent. The successful applicant will be expected to enrol for a higher degree. SALARY: Within the range A 2066-2666 dollars a year for Honours graduates. Applications from students in their final undergraduate year will be considered; in such a case the salary would be 1866 dollars during the Honours year. Interest and competence in the physical aspects of the subject and/or the use of statistical! techniques would be an advantage. Commencing salary will be determined according to qualifications and experience within one of the ranges—Lecturer SA4SO6-$A6346 per annum; Senior Lecturer $A6666-$A7600 per anum. In the case of permanent appointees, provision is made for superannuation, travel and removal expenses, assistance in buying or building a home and study leave. Study leave travel grants are available and credit may be granted for existing study leave entitlement. There are chairs of mathematics (Professor G. Bosson), pure mathematics (Professor G. Szekeres), applied mathematics (Professor J. M. Blatt) as well as the chair currently being advertised in statistics. Davis, Bursar. ; 3589 UNIVERSITY OF WAIKATO HAMILTON NEW ZEALAND PROFESSOR OF FRENCH THE University of Waikato invites applications for the position of Professor of French. The University was established on January 1, 1964, and occupies a site of about 125 acres on the outskirts of Hamilton The academic organisation of the University is based on schools of study rather than of faculties and departments. The teaching of full-time coordinated courses in the Schools of Humanities Social Sciences and Education has begun this year. The teaching of languages is centred in the School of Humanities, although language courses are also provided in the other schools. The development of postgraduate work and research is being encouraged. Conditions' for study leave are favourable. The appointee will be responsible to the University Council for teaching and research in French, and will be required to assist in the overall work of the University. The annual salary for the position will be within the range £3256 to £4666.
