UNIVERSITY VACANCIES MEDICAL research council OF NEW ZEALAND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER THE Medical Research Council of New Zealand proposes to appoint a person well qualified In medical research as its Chief Executive Officer. The appointment will be a whole time one and the officer appointed will be expected to review periodically current council activities, suggest new lints of research which the council should support, and be responsible for studying and making recommendations on proposals from institutions and individuals for support for research projects. He will also advice on the co-ordination or research supported or assisted by the council and by other fund granting bodies in New Zealand. It may be possible for an i appointee actively engaged in research to continue a limited amount of personal research. The appointment will be for a period of five years in the first instance and the salary will be up to £4OOO p.a. The final terms of appointment will be a matter of negotiation.
