Support By Council The efforts of the Halswell Swimming Pool Development Committee to establish a swimming pool in the Halswell Domain were supported by the Halswell County Council, said a report by the finance committee to the council. The report said the comI mittee had advised that the ; cost of establishing a swimming pool in the Halswell Domain would be £lB,OOO. It hoped to raise £6OOO by | contributions over three years 1 and asked for the council’s support. The domain board had i agreed on the siting of the ’ pool in the domain. The committee was looking to the . council to provide some I money from land sub-division. Councillor J. G. Stephens had moved that the committee be advised that the council supported its efforts and approved its proposed circular to residents of the county. The council was prepared to make funds available from land sub-division but could not at present state the amount. The committee would be expected to accept full responsibility for the project, its running and its maintenance. The report was adopted.
