Students Prepare For Revue On Friday

This year’s student revue, “What the Dinosaur,” will definitely begin on Friday. The star of the show, a large dinosaur which was almost arrested last week-end for attempting to cross the route of [the Royal entourage, finally reached Helen Connon Hall, land has been successfully 1 ; fitted with trousers. More than 150 undergraduates of the University of Canterbury will be involved in this year’s production, according to the revue chairman (Mr R. Warren). Prepar. ations have been under way since the beginning of the academic year in March. “The theme of this year’s show is the battle of the sexes through the ages,” Mr Warren said. “Naturally enough it is mainly concerned with the frustration of man. Man's Progress “We follow man’s progress from the palaeolithic era (when the dinosaur makes his appearance) to the year 2000 A.D. The setting changes a good deal, but the situation

has always been very much . the same.” The associate producer of ; the show (Mr G. Wilson) said j that the large cast of more than 60 was a K return to the traditional type of revue. “As usual there will be no lack of bandy innuendo,” he j 1 said. “The proctors have 1 already done a preliminary censoring of the show. They 1 will see the final rehearsal on Thursday night again, but we don’t anticipate any changes.” An air of secrecy has surrounded the rehearsals, according to Mr Warren. “The script is the joint work of several of the! students and staff,” he said, i “The authors insist on strict! anonymity. None of them I will take the blame for it. “The show will be the best I for years. It has an excellent! ballet, is laden with good i music, and the orchestra is made up entirely of profes-| sional musicians. One thing is i certain: the cast is very en-j thusiastic, and they will en-l joy themselves if no-one i does.”
